The World Bank has placed at 80 million the number of Nigerians across the country who have no access to electricity.

This figure represents people living in 8000 villages nationwide, in a country of fewer than 200 million people according to the last population census.

The estimate was disclosed on Tuesday by the World Bank Global Lead, Energy Access, Mac Cosgrove-Davies, during the opening ceremony of the fourth Mini Grid Action Learning Event themed “Upscaling Mini-grids for Low-cost and Timely Access to Electricity”.
