Akwa United’s Maikaba Gets Eaglets Job
Akwa United manager Abdu Maikaba has been appointed as head coach of five-time world champions Nigeria’s Golden Eagles.
Maikaba’s appointment was announced on Sunday by Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The new U17 handler, who won the Aiteo Cup with the Promise Keepers in October, was appointed alongside Abubakar Bala as First Assistant Coach, while Oluwafunsho Bunmi Haruna and Baruwa Abideen will serve as Second Assistant Coach and Goalkeepers’ Trainer respectively.
The country’s U17 side failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup in India, after winning the world title back-to-back in 2013 and 2015.
