Lagos state police command assures residents of their safety this yuletide, release emergency telephone numbers
The state police command has assured resident of the state of their safety in the yuletide. The state police spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole, in a statement released Tuesday, said the command is doing everything in its power to reduce traffic robbery. He also released emergency telephone numbers. Read the statement below
The Public Relations officer of Lagos State Police command, ASP. Olarinde Famous-Cole has urged residents of Lagos State not to be unduly concerned or fearful of the increased presence of policemen across the state, including patrol vehicles at strategic traditional points.
Famous-Cole disclosed that these measures are being taken to checkmate the activities of hoodlums and other social vices especially on traffic-logged routes occasioned by construction works and port operation. Some of these routes include Oshodi/Gbagada expressway, Apapa, illepeju, mile 2, Apongbon and other locations within the state.
“The command wishes to assure lagosians that it has tackled effectively the problem of traffic robberies across the state”, Famous-Cole said.
He added that “On Friday 10 November 2017, over twenty eight (28) traffic robbery suspects were arrested and will soon be charged to court.”
He however adviced Lagosians to go about their normal business and disregard any unfounded and mischievous claims of robberies on major Lagos highways while the command also appeal to members of the public to partner effectively by giving credible information to the police and report strange or suspicious movement within their area.
