Nana Bonsu is delighted with the arrival of two new keepers Femi Thomas and James Aiyeyemi at Rangers International of Enugu and has challenged the duo to work to bring out their best for the club.
Bonsu, a regular squad member in the Rangers fairy tale run in the title success of the 2015/16 season, was bogged down by injuries last term picking a handful of first team appearances.
In a chat with npfl.ng the Ghanaian import said he is fully focused on competing with the three other goalkeepers including his compatriot, Seidu Mutawakilu to return Rangers glorious at the end of the new season.
“It’s not going to be easy but I am back to reclaim my number one position in between the sticks for Rangers but more importantly to bring out the best in all of us for the club to succeed,” he said.
He admitted that last season was not particularly a great one for him but affirmed he is now fit to build on his past performances.
“I am happy that we have brought in good goalkeepers to the team which is good for competition and for the club. I am also very confident and equal to the task of making more regular appearances this season,” Bonsu said.
The seven-time Nigerian champions now have four highly-rated goalkeepers in their fold – Aiyeyemi, joining from MFM FC, Thomas who arrived on a free transfer from Rivers United and Ghana’s former U-23 Olympic team goalkeeper Mutawakilu who joined at the start of last season. Last season’s third goalkeeper, Itodo Akor joined Katsina United.
