What To Expect From Burna Boy’s Forthcoming ‘OUTSIDE’ Mixtape
Coming off a fierce robbery allegation that threatened the stability of his career, afro-fusion singer Burna Boy is finally set to disrupt the airwaves with a new project titled “OUTSIDE” slated for a January 26, release.
“I’m already done working on the OUTSIDE project”, Burna had revealed in September 2017. This announcement was followed with the release of several singles; Deja Vu, Gba, Sekkle Down and Heaven’s Gate to salivate and build up anticipation for the project.
A private listening was conducted in Lagos last weekend where industry insiders, friends, and family members were treated to an exclusive listen of the tape and some backstories on the creative process and what inspired the records on the project. With a new record deal from Atlantic Records and a positive energy from his fans, Burna Boy seems positioned for a definite release.
To guide your anticipation and further salivate you, below are three things you should expect from the OUTSIDE mixtape.
Ultrahigh Versatility
From inception, Burna Boy had been crested with the badge of versatility but this time, Burna is pushing far beyond the boundaries of his musical dimensions. His recent single; Heaven’s Gate featuring British singer Lily Allen properly reveals the depth that the singer is currently reaching for. Leaning on his dancehall strengths, Burna experimented with Indian rhythms and some litters of the Cockney influence. “The speed of the record is a departure from my usual mid-tempo style”, Burna Boy revealed.
